Copti Learn Privacy Policy

Copti Learn teaches you to read Bohairic Coptic. It has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. Your progress stays on your device. The only thing that leaves it is your voice, and only when you press the button to speak.

This policy covers the Copti Learn apps for iPhone and Android and the website at coptic-duolingo.vercel.app.

What stays on your device

Your lesson progress, your review history, your chosen language and your chosen theme are saved in your device's own storage. They are never sent to us or to anyone else. We run no server that could receive them. Deleting the app, or clearing the website's data in your browser, deletes them.

Your voice

Some exercises ask you to say a word aloud. The microphone is used only after you press "Tap to speak", and only for that one answer. Your device's permission prompt asks first, and you can say no.

To turn your speech into text, the audio goes to the speech service your device provides:

• on iPhone, Apple's speech recognition;
• on Android, your phone's speech service, which on most phones is Google's;
• on the website, your browser's speech recognition, run by the company that makes the browser.

Those companies handle the audio under their own privacy policies. Copti Learn keeps no recording. The text that comes back is compared with the word on your device and kept there until the lesson ends, so the lesson's review can show you what was heard. Every speaking exercise can be skipped at no cost to your progress.

App updates

The phone apps check with Expo's update service whether a newer version of the lessons is available. That check sends the app's version, your device's platform and a random identifier the app creates. It contains nothing about you or your learning.

Website hosting

The website is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel receives the standard information your browser sends when it loads a page, such as your IP address, and may keep it in its logs for a short time. The website sets no cookies and loads nothing from any other company.

Children

Copti Learn collects no personal information from anyone, of any age. Voice input, where used, is handled as described above and can always be skipped.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, share or rent any data.
• We do not show advertising.
• We do not use analytics or tracking of any kind.
• We do not ask you to create an account.

Changes to this policy

If Copti Learn's handling of data changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
